My Tea Thoughts:
March 6, 2010
Look. Before even opening the canister, I was impressed by the awesome container -- it's a sort of stacked arrangement of cans, each one serving as the lid to the next. The tea itself is a wonderfully large-leafed oolong, with plentiful additions of what's identified on the package as "apple, caramel bits, almond pieces, safflower, sunflower, and mallow flower."
Smell. This tea smells rich and sweet, with just a hint of warm fruit.
Drink the steam. The steam tastes about the same as it smells.
Sip. The basenote is oolong -- and what an oolong! Round, warm, smooth -- everything a tea should be.
Slurp. The slurping of this tea reveals some unexpectedly bright notes, a perfect contrast to the caramel and oolong that have come before.
Gulp. A smooth-as-silk tea with a perfect finish, just the right mixture of bright and dark notes. If tea is like music, this one is a professional symphony orchestra.
Think. Creamy Nut Oolong is a wonderful dessert tea, but could also be good with a light meal -- perhaps for an unconventional breakfast tea.
This tea was a gift all the way from Calgary, Canada! Thank you, my dear newly Canadian friends. (Read about this family's adventure up north at their blogs: travelinghopefully.blogspot.com and writing-with-grace.blogspot.com.)
